Introduction to Competitive Shooting
Introduction to Competitive Shooting
Whether your goal is to become a better all-around shooter, improve your speed and accuracy under pressure, or step onto the competition range for the first time, this class is designed to give you a solid foundation in practical shooting.
Introduction to Competitive Shooting is built for shooters who want to learn how action shooting sports work and how to perform safely, efficiently, and confidently in a dynamic environment. No competition experience is required.
This class introduces students to the fundamentals of practical shooting through the lens of USPSA-style competition. You’ll learn how matches are structured, how scoring works, range commands, safety rules, division basics, and what gear is actually needed to get started—without the confusion or intimidation that often keeps people from trying it.
On the range, students will begin applying the core skills that matter most in competition and carry over into better overall shooting performance: drawing from a holster, target transitions, throttle control, visual patience, movement, reloads, stage planning, and shooting on demand under time pressure. Coaching is practical, performance-focused, and scaled to the shooter’s current level.
This is not just a class for “competition people.” It’s for anyone who wants to become more capable with a handgun, develop efficiency under pressure, and learn how to shoot with greater control, accountability, and purpose.
By the end of class, students will understand the structure and purpose of practical shooting competition, know how to safely participate in a match, and leave with a clear path to continue training and improving.
